Wishing you all the best for the new year and looking forward to working with you in the future.

Olos Careers works with individuals focusing on career change and career management. Availability of choice and different options has escalated over the last twenty years. As a result, being certain of the right choice can be difficult without the right information and career advice.

Career Change Part 7 – What are you missing?

In every job there are two areas of knowledge required to be the perfect fit. First one is industry knowledge and the second is job specific skills and experience.

The next step is to look at for the career or role you want, what is the skill gap between what you currently have and what you need? In most situations, an employer will consider you if you fulfil a good proportion of the job requirements and in exchange the next role gives you the opportunity to develop the skills or experience that you need to close the skill gap.

Make a list of all the skills and experience required to be successful in your ideal job:

Eg Industry or related industry experience
Qualifications
People management
Sales or client management experience
Large projects
Lead design experience

The next Part will focus on how to plan your transition to your new career or role.

Olos Testimonials

  • I had been unhappy in the line of work I had chosen for quite some time and couldn’t seem to get off the treadmill.

Working with Andrea made me see it is never too late to start anything new, study full time and take a bit of a calculated risk. I expect to be working way into my 60’s and 70’s so doing something I enjoy is very important to me.

Through my work with Andrea I will be going back to full time study in my late 30’s which I hope will lead to a more fulfilling career. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Andrea and found the experience very beneficial and rewarding. I now know which direction I’m heading in and anticipate enjoying every step of the way.
